Social Media Marketing Pricing in India: What You Should Expect to Pay

Pricing for social media marketing in India is all over the place. You will find agencies charging ?3,000 a month and others charging ?1,50,000. Both will tell you they do social media marketing. The difference is enormous, but it is not always obvious from the outside.

This guide breaks down what the different price points actually get you — and what is a waste of money.

What Goes Into Social Media Marketing?

Before talking numbers, it helps to understand what is actually involved in doing this well:

  • Strategy — deciding what to post, on which platforms, for which audience
  • Content creation — writing captions, designing graphics, filming and editing videos
  • Scheduling and posting — consistent publishing at the right times
  • Community management — responding to comments, DMs, and mentions
  • Paid advertising — running Instagram or Facebook ad campaigns
  • Analytics and reporting — tracking what works and adjusting

Cheap packages almost always skip most of these. Premium packages should cover all of them.

Typical Price Ranges in India

PackageMonthly CostWhat You Get
Basic?5,000–?12,0008–12 posts/month, basic graphics, one platform
Standard?15,000–?35,00016–20 posts, Reels/video, 2–3 platforms, basic reporting
Growth?35,000–?80,00020+ posts, Reels, ads management, community management, detailed analytics
Full-Service?80,000–?2,00,000+Dedicated team, daily content, influencer coordination, ad spend management, full strategy

Note: Ad spend (the money you actually spend on Meta or Google to show your ads) is separate from agency fees. This is just the management and creation cost.

The Problem with Very Cheap Packages

A ?3,000/month package means someone is being paid about ?150 per post — including the time to design it, write the caption, research the topic, and post it at the right time. That is not possible to do well. What you get is templated graphics with your logo slapped on, generic captions, and zero strategy.

Generic content does not grow accounts. It does not generate enquiries. It is the digital equivalent of a leaflet nobody reads.

What Actually Moves the Needle

The businesses that see real results from social media share a few things:

  • They post consistently — not once a week, not five times in one day then nothing for a fortnight
  • They have a clear focus — a specific audience, a specific message, not "content for everyone"
  • They use video — Reels and Shorts consistently outperform static images for reach
  • They engage — they reply to comments, DMs, and participate in relevant conversations
  • They pair organic content with paid ads — organic builds the brand, ads accelerate it

Should You Hire an Agency or Do It In-House?

If you can afford a good in-house person (?25,000–?45,000/month for a competent social media manager), that often beats an agency for organic content — they know your brand better and can act faster. But most agencies offer better paid ads expertise than a generalist in-house person.

The sweet spot for many businesses: a part-time in-house person for content, and an agency for paid ad strategy and management.
